Washington, D.C. – This afternoon, Congressman Riley M. Moore introduced a resolution with 20 of his House colleagues to honor Pope Leo XIV after his historic election to the Chair of St. Peter. Born Robert Francis Prevost, Pope Leo XIV is a native of Chicago and graduate of Villanova University. He was ordained a priest in 1982 and named a Cardinal by Pope Francis in 2023.

Moore condemned the persecution of Christians abroad and urged his colleagues to join him in calling out the brutal attacks taking place in several countries, including Nigeria, Syria, and Iraq.

"Mina and I join fellow Catholics in West Virginia and across the globe in mourning the loss of Pope Francis and praying for the repose of his soul.

Washington, D.C. – Today, the House of Representatives passed an amended version of the House budget resolution for Fiscal Year 2025, which first passed the House in February of this year.
Now that Congress has officially passed a budget, committees will begin the work of drafting the President’s signature legislative package, which they hope to pass via the reconciliation process.
