Washington, D.C. – This afternoon, Congressman Riley M. Moore introduced a resolution with 20 of his House colleagues to honor Pope Leo XIV after his historic election to the Chair of St. Peter. Born Robert Francis Prevost, Pope Leo XIV is a native of Chicago and graduate of Villanova University. He was ordained a priest in 1982 and named a Cardinal by Pope Francis in 2023.

“Habemus papam & Deo gratias — an American has been elected to the chair of St. Peter!

“I pray the Lord blesses the Holy Father with the great wisdom and unyielding courage necessary to preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ and Him crucified.

“Here’s to many years of good health for Pope Leo XIV as he shepherds our universal church as the Vicar of Christ.”

Washington, D.C. – Earlier today, Congressman Riley M. Moore gave his first speech on the floor of the House of Representatives. In the speech, Rep. Moore condemned the persecution of Christians abroad and urged his colleagues to join him in calling out the brutal attacks taking place in several countries, including Nigeria, Syria, and Iraq.
