Are credit card companies quietly tracking your firearm purchases? A growing number of Americans and lawmakers think so. In response, pro-Second Amendment legislators have introduced federal bills to shut down the use of firearm-specific merchant category codes (MCCs) once and for all.

S. 1715, known as the Protecting Privacy in Purchases Act, was introduced by Senator Bill Hagerty (R-TN) and has already gained support from 16 Senate cosponsors. Its House companion, H.R. 1181, was introduced by Representative Riley Moore (R-WV). Both bills aim to prohibit the use of a firearm retailer-specific MCC, which banks and credit card companies could use to surveil and potentially restrict lawful firearm and ammunition purchases.

Shepherd University celebrated the groundbreaking of its new dining hall and multipurpose building on Wednesday.

Located on the west side of the Shepherd campus near the intramural fields, this project will include state-of-the-art dining facilities, along with new locker rooms and a weight room. It was funded with help from Rep. Riley Moore and former state Sen. Craig Blair.

A bipartisan group of lawmakers is introducing a resolution to congratulate Pope Leo XIV on his “historic” election as the “first American pontiff,” The Daily Wire can first report.

The cardinals’ decision to choose Pope Leo as the leader of the Catholic Church surprised many, given that there has never before been an American pope. But his selection has also proved surprisingly unitive as American leaders and lawmakers come together to celebrate the honor done to their country by an American sitting on the Chair of Peter.

Led by Republican Riley Moore of West Virginia, the lawmakers will introduce the resolution Wednesday to honor and congratulate the pope. The resolution’s language will specifically celebrate Pope Leo as “the 267th pontiff of the Holy Roman Catholic Church” as well as “the first American pontiff,” recognizing the significance of his election for the many American Catholics and Christians.

U.S. Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. confirmed on Wednesday that some previously laid off workers at the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health facility in Morgantown had been restored to their positions.

Kennedy, during a U.S. House Appropriations Committee budget hearing, answered a question about the status of the NIOSH employees from Rep. Riley Moore, R-W.Va.

We spoke with West Virginia Congressman Riley Moore, who personally worked on the deal during his time as State Treasurer, and he describes the news as heartbreaking.

“What I’d like to see is perhaps given the national security aspect of transformers, it is a national security issue, we have to be able to produce them here in the United States, if perhaps the Administration invoking the Defense Production Act. And that is something that I’ve been speaking with the White House about this issue as it relates to Cleveland Cliffs and Weirton.”

On Wednesday, following the closure of the stock market, it was learned that plans to convert Weirton’s Cleveland-Cliffs facility to an electric transformer facility have fallen through.
