U.S. Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. confirmed on Wednesday that some previously laid off workers at the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health facility in Morgantown had been restored to their positions.
Kennedy, during a U.S. House Appropriations Committee budget hearing, answered a question about the status of the NIOSH employees from Rep. Riley Moore, R-W.Va.
As President Donald Trump gave his first speech to a joint session of the U.S. Congress on Tuesday evening, many elected leaders from both Ohio and West Virginia, all Republicans, praised the president’s vision while the Democratic Party in both states said his actions will impact many hard-working Americans.

West Virginia Republican Reps. Carol Miller and Riley Moore voted Thursday in favor of legislation to permanently classify fentanyl as a Schedule I drug under the Controlled Substances Act.
The HALT Fentanyl Act passed the U.S. House of Representatives in a 312-108 vote.
“West Virginia has lost countless citizens to fentanyl overdose, and the HALT Fentanyl Act will close a deadly loophole and empower our justice system to aggressively prosecute the individuals poisoning our communities,” Moore said in a statement.

WASHINGTON (WV News) — Members of West Virginia’s congressional delegation added their signatures to a letter calling on President Donald Trump to reinstate “life-affirming” policies from his term.
Sen. Shelley Moore Capito, along with Reps. Carol Miller and Riley Moore, all Republicans, were among the 143 members of Congress who signed the letter calling on Trump to undo actions put in place by his predecessor.
